Our Approach

Building or transforming a home is a significant investment and an important chapter in your life. It can also feel overwhelming, with many decisions, timelines and people involved. We believe the building process should be clear, collaborative and enjoyable, giving you confidence from first conversations through to handover.

We spend time up front understanding how you live, how you want your home to feel and what matters most in the budget. From there, we use structured pre construction services, detailed costing and regular communication to keep the project on track. Our goal is simple: protect the design, protect the budget and deliver a home that works beautifully in daily life.

What defines Overland Builders

What we stand for as builders

Clarity and communication
Clear information reduces stress. We invest in early conversations, transparent pre construction agreements and detailed estimates, so you always know the stage of your project and the impact of upcoming decisions.

Craftsmanship and detail

We focus on the fundamentals. From structure to fine finishes, details are resolved with architects and consultants before they reach site, resulting in work that feels cohesive and considered.

Performance and comfort

We build homes that feel good to live in. Insulation, glazing, airtightness, orientation and ventilation are considered from the start to create spaces that are quieter, more efficient and comfortable across the seasons.

Respect for old homes and place

Many of our projects connect old and new in Hobart’s heritage suburbs. We introduce new structure, light and space with respect for existing materials and stories, creating additions that feel like a natural evolution of the home.

Your questions answered

What types of projects does Overland Builders take on?

We focus on architect designed homes, substantial extensions and renovations, and projects that involve connecting old homes to new additions. Most of our work is in established suburbs around Hobart and Southern Tasmania, where good design, detailing and performance are important to the outcome.

Where do you work?

We are based in Hobart and typically work across the greater Hobart region and parts of Southern Tasmania. If you are unsure whether your project is in our area, get in touch with some basic details and we can confirm availability.

Do you work with my architect or only in house designers?

We regularly work with independent architects and designers and are comfortable joining a project at different stages of design. Our preference is to be involved early through pre construction and Early Contractor Involvement, so we can provide cost and constructability feedback while the design is still evolving.

Do you take on smaller jobs or maintenance work?

We concentrate on full new homes, larger extensions and significant renovations where our process and level of detail can add real value. We are generally not the right fit for single room makeovers or small maintenance tasks, but we are happy to suggest the type of builder who might be better suited.

What is the first step if we want to work with you?

Start by sending through a short enquiry with information about your site, any existing drawings and your approximate budget. We will then organise a 15 minute discovery call to understand where you are up to, outline suitable next steps and explain how our pre construction process works.

Ready to talk about your project?

If you are planning a new home, extension or renovation in Hobart or Southern Tasmania, get in touch to tell us a bit about your project. We will review your information and arrange a short discovery call to discuss next steps and the right pre construction pathway for you.
