Considered building in Hobart and Southern Tasmania

We specialise in architect designed new homes, extensions and renovations across Hobart and Southern Tasmania. Our work brings old and new together with care, improving comfort, performance and how a home feels to live in. For projects that are built to endure, this is where to begin.

Building with intention

Our services are designed for clients who want a considered building experience and a home that will support the way they live for many years. Most of the people we work with:

• Are collaborating with an architect or designer, or plan to
• Want a custom home, extension or renovation shaped for the long term
• Value craftsmanship, clear communication and realistic costing
• Care about comfort, performance and energy efficiency
• Often live in, or are planning to buy, character homes in inner Hobart

If this feels familiar, the services below outline how we can support your project.

Why clients and architects choose Overland

Clear, structured process

We follow a defined process from early enquiry to handover. Paid estimating and Early Contractor Involvement give you realistic information, not rough guesses.

Craftsmanship backed by experience

Directors Tom Scott and Cam de Gooyer bring experience across architect designed homes, complex extensions and commercial work. That standard carries through our site teams and trusted trades.

Performance and comfort as standard

We build for Tasmanian conditions. Insulation, glazing, airtightness and moisture management are integrated into every project, working closely with your architect and consultants.

Respect for existing homes and neighbourhoods

On renovations and heritage projects, we plan access carefully, minimise disruption and maintain a tidy, well managed site that respects your home and your street.

Your questions answered

What types of projects does Overland Builders take on?

We focus on architect designed homes, substantial extensions and renovations, and projects that involve connecting old homes to new additions. Most of our work is in established suburbs around Hobart and Southern Tasmania, where good design, detailing and performance are important to the outcome.

Where do you work?

We are based in Hobart and typically work across the greater Hobart region and parts of Southern Tasmania. If you are unsure whether your project is in our area, get in touch with some basic details and we can confirm availability.

Do you work with my architect or only in house designers?

We regularly work with independent architects and designers and are comfortable joining a project at different stages of design. Our preference is to be involved early through pre construction and Early Contractor Involvement, so we can provide cost and constructability feedback while the design is still evolving.

Do you take on smaller jobs or maintenance work?

We concentrate on full new homes, larger extensions and significant renovations where our process and level of detail can add real value. We are generally not the right fit for single room makeovers or small maintenance tasks, but we are happy to suggest the type of builder who might be better suited.

What is the first step if we want to work with you?

Start by sending through a short enquiry with information about your site, any existing drawings and your approximate budget. We will then organise a 15 minute discovery call to understand where you are up to, outline suitable next steps and explain how our pre construction process works.

Your next step

If you are planning a new home, extension, renovation or performance upgrade in Hobart or Southern Tasmania, share a few details about your project. We will review your information and guide you on what comes next.
